Under geographical indication means a designation of origin and a geographical indication:
- Designation of origin means the name of a country, region or specified locality within that country, used to designate a good which originates there and whose quality or characteristics are due primarily or exclusively to the geographical environment, including natural and human factors
- A geographical indication is the name of a country, region or specified locality within that country, serving to designate a good which originates there and possesses a quality, renown or other characteristic attributable to that geographical origin

The right to apply shall belong to any person who carries out his production activities in the defined geographical area and the goods he produces comply with the established qualities or characteristics.

The State Register of Geographical Indications is kept and maintained by the Patent Office. The applicable legislation is governed by Law on trademarks and geographical indications.
