Ramsar Sites

Areas designated on the basis of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, to which Bulgaria is a party.

Bulgaria is represented by 11 wetlands (Ramsar Sites), with a total area of 49 912.43 ha, representing 0.45% of the country's territory - "Lake Atanasovsko", "Belen Islands Complex", "Durankulak Lake", "Ibisha Island", "Shablen Lake", "Poda Locality", "Pomorie Lake", "Ropotamo Complex", "Srebarna Lake", "Vaya Lake" and "Dragomansko Bog Karst Complex".
